Horseshoe Bay Ranch began in 1982 by Bluey Hyde and was known then as 'Bluey's Horseshoe Ranch'. He started the outfit as a small weekend ranch with 9 horses, and built it into a thriving family business with 30 horses. He was fortunate enough to secure a permit that allows the horses to ride down the breathtakingly beautiful Horseshoe Bay beach, and then in for a swim in the cool clear waters of the Coral Sea.

It is now known as 'Horseshoe Bay Ranch' and is owned and operated by Lucy Atkinson and Chris Hartge. Our horses are well educated, good natured, and very trustworthy.

Horse riding thru the picturesque Horseshoe Bay lagoon and hinterland is perfect for spotting koalas, rock wallabies, kangaroos, many butterfly species, and a wide diversity of birds. At certain times of the year, giant turtles, and dugongs swim by our horses!

The Ranch has proudly had over a quarter of a million riders experience the unique blend of bush and Great Barrier Reef horse riding. We cater to all level riders. Adults and kids. Our 2 hour trip, rides thru the bush, onto the beach, and in the water.
